  8. Welcome to CrashMail, a full-featured mail-processor ("tosser") for the
  9. Amiga. CrashMail has all the features you can expect in a good tosser
  10. and is easy to configure with the comfortable settings editor CrashPrefs.
  11. Many hours of work have been put into CrashMail to make it as powerful,
  12. stable and easy to use as possible.

  14. CrashMail can be used on a node as well as on a point system with high
  15. demands and can use both UMS and *.msg messagebases.
  16.

  21. This version is distributed as a complete archive instead of a patch like
  22. CrashMail 1.24 since I thought that a patch for  a patch would be too
  23. confusing.

  30. Changes since 1.24:
  31.  
  32.  - When I started to replace odd characters with underscores when
  33.    creating paths for autoadded areas in a *.msg messagebase in
  34.    CrashMail1.24, I introduced a serious bug. All characters in the
  35.    path were replaced, so if the area should be called MAIl:Areas/TEST,
  36.    it would be called MAIL_Areas_TEST instead.
  37.  
  38.  - Fixed a bug in CrashPrefs that on rare occasions would lead to
  39.    Enforcer hits when choosing an aka for an area.
  40.  
  41.  - If you stop the rescanning of an area with Ctrl-C, CrashMail would
  42.    give you an incorrect number of messages rescanned in previous
  43.    versions.
  44.  
  45.  - CrashMail could crash when it tried to rescan a *.msg area without
  46.    a directory and the directory couldn't be created by CrashMail.
  47.  
  48.  - CrashMail would crash when message numbers in a *.msg area exceeded
  49.    99999. Now CrashMail can handle this situation better, but you still
  50.    shouldn't have that high message numbers. The highwater marks stored
  51.    in 1.msg cannot be higher than 65535, so if your message numbers are
  52.    higher than that, CrashMail will stop using highwater marks which
  53.    will make scanning areas much slower. Other programs set the limit at
  54.    32767, so if you want to be fully compatible with all programs,
  55.    don't use higher message numbers than that.
  56.  
  57.  - The way you configure which group a node needs access to in order to
  58.    be able to forward-request areas in an arealist has been changed. The
  59.    old way that was based on the default group of the corresponding node
  60.    was a bit awkward. Now you can configure a group for each arealist
  61.    instead. This also has the advantage that you can have several
  62.    arealists with different groups for a node.
  63.  
  64.    *** IMPORTANT, PLEASE NOTE ***
  65.  
  66.    When you install this version, all arealists will have no group set
  67.    which means that noone can use them for forward-requests. Before you
  68.    start using CrashMail 1.25, you must set a group for each node you
  69.    want to use for forward-requests.
  70.  
  71.  - Now CrashMail adds a newline character before writing the Via line
  72.    when routing netmail if there wasn't one before.
